Three museums appear in the Cairo tours from Hurghada. The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) at Giza, fully open since November 2025. The old Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square in the city centre. It stands next to the Giza plateau, with the Giza visitor centre beside it, so there is no long drive between the pyramids and the museum. The Ranco Travel Egypt listing names the treasures of Tutankhamun as its highlight and plans about 2 hours 50 minutes inside, after Giza and lunch. Other listings give about 2 hours, and guests on several tours write that the museum time felt short, especially when a shopping stop came first. If the GEM is the reason for your trip, look at the time the itinerary gives it.
The GEM raised its ticket prices on 1 November 2026. Egyptian press reported an increase of 5 US dollars for foreign visitors, to 35 dollars for an adult ticket (as of November 2026). On the tours that list museum entry as included, the price of the tour covers it; on the Nice Tours flight tour, the entry comes only with the option that includes it, so the lowest price shown may not have it.
The museum on Tahrir Square is the historic building in central Cairo, further from Giza than the GEM, so the day has more driving in the city. On the Book Tour Egypt flight tour it is an option from 6 people. The private Nice Tours tour goes to Tahrir according to its description, while one of its highlights says "Great Egyptian Museum"; one guest asked for the GEM and the guide changed the plan. If the museum matters to you, confirm it with the operator in writing. On the Nice Tours group flight tour, Tahrir or the GEM comes with the option you book.
The Royal Mummies Hall at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is offered on one flight tour, Book Tour Egypt's pyramids and royal mummies trip, as an alternative to the GEM and from 6 people. The operator calls it the only flight day trip from Hurghada with the mummies; we found no other on the booking platform either. If your party is smaller, ask whether the option still runs on your date before you book.
Several tours sell the same day with different museum options, and some add an option without any museum. The FTS Travelss tour has a "Pyramids and Sphinx only" option, and that tour is non-refundable, so a wrong choice cannot be cancelled. Read the option name before you pay: it decides the museum and whether its entry ticket is included. What the tours include lists the tickets and extras for each tour.
Reviews of tours on this page, the critical ones included. The museums themselves get praise; the complaints are about the time left for them after shop stops and long talks at Giza. One guest also writes that the guide pressed for a five-star review during the day, which is something to decline politely and do later.

“As I was on my own I decided to book this trip to be in professional hands and out of the Egyptian tourist traps. Unfortunately, I had quite some issues with the guide (poor english and although asked few times not adjusting her style and information flow to my needs), changing entrance ticket to different pyramid without asking, nearly forcing me on a non-planned and not desired camel tour. In addition there were 3 extra tourist shop activities added to the program taking 2 hours out of our day and not leaving enough time for the GEM museum. Bad communication around (last minute) changing flight schedules etc etc. The pyramids and museum were fantastic but all in all not a great experience with FTS travel company.”
